DETAINEE SENT TO HOSPITAL WITH
MEDICAL EMERGENCY

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 26, 2023) – On Jan. 25 at approximately 5:50 p.m., Oklahoma County Detention Center jail staff was advised by Turn Key medical staff a female detainee was experiencing a medical emergency. EMSA arrived and transported the detainee to the hospital. After receiving treatment, the detainee was brought back to the jail at approximately 10 p.m. While the detainee was at the hospital, jail staff secured a medical release, often known as a medical own recognizance bond, or “OR,” from an Oklahoma County Court judge. She was released from custody on the OR bond at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday. The jail routinely seeks OR bonds for detainees whose health requires a level of care the jail cannot provide. The jail is prohibited by law from discussing any specific detainee medical information. However, it is jail policy for female detainees to undergo a pregnancy test during the medical intake process. Any medical concerns discovered at booking are treated by the medical staff or referred to an outside source for further treatment. Any detainee whose medical condition requires outside medical treatment is sent to the hospital until they can be cared for by the jail’s contracted medical staff.
