SECURITY CONTROL SYSTEM UPGRADE ENHANCES
SAFETY AT OKLAHOMA COUNTY JAIL
OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 31, 2022) – An upgrade of the security and control system at the Oklahoma County Detention Center is providing enhanced safety for detainees and staff. The recently completed project brings the security control system into compliance with the Department of Justice’s Criminal Justice Information Security protocols. “The previous system was outdated and was not compliant with the Department of Justice,” said Greg Williams, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “We are working hard to identify weaknesses to older systems throughout the jail, replace them with new technologies, and provide a safer and more secure environment for detainees and staff.” The upgrade replaces outdated software on 320 security doors and 320 intercoms. The system also interfaces with 160 new digital cameras, which were installed during a recently completed camera upgrade project, as well as controls the secure elevators. The security and control system project increases efficiency by upgrading three outdated Windows XP control workstations to four control workstations using new Windows 10 software.
