OKLAHOMA COUNTY JAIL DETENTION OFFICERS STOP
CONTRABAND SMUGGLING ATTEMPT

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 14, 2022) – Alert Detention Officers recently stopped a detainee’s attempt to smuggle contraband into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. On November 10, 2022, a bondsman returned Nathaniel Hernandez into the custody of the jail. Hernandez was released in May on a $20,000 bond. During the booking process, the body scanner the jail installed in March indicated a small round spot near Hernandez’ mid-section. During the subsequent search, Detention Officers found 20 small clear baggies containing what investigators believe to be heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana. “Our staff works very hard to keep contraband out of the facility,” said Greg Williams, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “This discovery is the direct result of Detention Offers utilizing their training and the technology employed to detect it. I commend them on their work, which help protect the safety of staff and detainees.” Hernandez faces several charges related to possession and intent to distribute drugs. The bondsman surrendered Hernandez on a previous charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
