OKLAHOMA COUNTY JAIL DETAINEE DIES AT
HOSPITAL FOLLOWING
MEDICAL EMERGENCY

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 19, 2022) – At approximately 12:50 a.m. Saturday, an Oklahoma County Jail detainee passed away at the hospital after a medical emergency. The detainee, Renee Houston, was previously being cared for on the jail’s medical floor. Around 11:40 p.m. Friday, a detention officer called for medical and other officers to respond to Houston’s cell. They immediately began life-saving efforts. Emergency responders arrived quickly, continued resuscitation efforts and transported her to the hospital. Houston, who was born on Aug. 20, 1965, was booked into the detention center Aug. 29, 2022. Her family has been notified. The State Medical Examiner’s Office will make a final determination as to the cause of death. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations has also been notified.
