OKLAHOMA COUNTY DETENTION OFFICER
ARRESTED, TERMINATED OVER CONTRABAND
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 6, 2022) – Oklahoma County Detention Center special investigators arrested a detention officer on charges of bringing contraband into the jail. On May 5, 2022, Detention Officer China Tucker was booked into the jail on charges of aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, distribution of controlled substance, and conspiracy to commit a felony. She was also terminated from her position. Acting on the tip, regarding unusual activity, the Special Investigative Unit searched a cell and found a small knife, marijuana, and a cell phone earlier in the week. A search of the cell phone discovered text messages between the detainee and the Detention Officer. On Thursday, May 5, 2022, Investigators detained the officer and searched her vehicle. Inside the vehicle they found more than $5,900 in cash, three cell phones wrapped in black electrical tape, two packs of cigarettes, one pack of cigars, and five individually wrapped bundles containing, marijuana, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. “The safety of detainees and our staff is our number one priority. The introduction of contraband into the jail can have deadly consequences,” said Greg Williams, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “We will continue to be proactive and vigilant. Any employee, contract worker or visitor attempting to bring in contraband will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, period.” This investigation is ongoing and may result in more charges.
