OCDC SPECIAL INVESTIGATORS STOP FENTANYL
SMUGGLING ATTEMPT
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 28, 2022) – Oklahoma County Detention Center special investigators arrested a detainee on charges of bringing contraband into the jail. On Feb. 25, 2022, Oklahoma City Police arrested Amerah Lee (D.O.B. 07/06/2000) and brought her to the jail to be booked. Acting on a tip, Detention special investigators conducted a thorough search of Lee and discovered 44 grams of marijuana and fentanyl hidden inside a body cavity. The investigation began earlier this month through a tip which claimed Lee was intentionally getting arrested to smuggle contraband into the jail. Lee was previously booked into the jail on 12/23/21 and 1/11/22. Investigators were immediately alerted when she was brought to the jail. “We have an amazing group of investigators who work extremely hard to help stop contraband from entering the facility. In this case, a confidential tip led us to an individual who we suspected of getting arrested on purpose in order to smuggle contraband into the facility,” said Greg Williams, CEO Oklahoma County Detention Center. “Fighting contraband is never ending. We may not be able to stop all of it from entering the facility, but we are dedicated to doing all we can to stop the flow, for the safety of detainees and staff alike.” Lee faces four charges, Aggravated Trafficking CDS – Fentanyl, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Introduction of Contraband into a Jail, and Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute. Her current bond is $111,000.
