NEW JAIL SECURITY CAMERAS HELP PROTECT
DETAINEES AND STAFF

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 29, 2022) – The Oklahoma County Detention Center recently completed the Avigilon Security Camera upgrade throughout the entire facility. The upgrade included replacing and installing 210 digital cameras, and the system is now completely digital. “The previous system was more than a decade old and was not capable of providing clear video coverage in the facility,” said Greg Williams, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “The new system will enhance our efforts to protect detainees and staff.”66 The upgrade also includes COVID-19 response analytics and contact tracing that will be especially useful in performing contact tracing to better protect against the spread of disease. The system has the capability to follow individuals throughout the facility and will mark other individuals who come into contact and follow their movements through the facility. The upgraded system also allows a longer storage life to preserve video.
