FORMER DETENTION OFFICER CHARGED FOR ACTIONS
THAT LEAD TO DETAINEE STABBING
OKLAHOMA CITY (November _, 2021) – A former Detention Officer has been charged with Attempted Murder for actions which led to a detainee being stabbed multiple times. On October 10, 2021, former Detention Officer Dominique Thomas (DOB 12/9/90) opened the cell door of detainee Tavion Murphy and allowed two Inmates to go inside the cell. Once inside the cell, suspects Christopher Dawson (DOB 02/10/91) and Malik Bowman (DOB 12/17/02) stabbed Murphy multiple times. Murphy was taken to the hospital where he spent several days being treated for his injuries. Murphy is now back at the detention center. Murphy’s cell mate, Dave Walker (DOB 10/26/00) is also charged with Attempted Murder. Oklahoma County Detention Center Special Investigators worked the case and presented several charges against all four individuals to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office which they accepted. Conspiracy to Commit a Crime “We hold our employees to the highest standard and expect them to respect detainees and treat them with respect,” said Greg Williams, CEO OCDC. “The former employee’s action is not indicative of our mission or our other employees. When someone breaks the law, we will hold them accountable like we did in this case.” Thomas was terminated immediately as facts of the case unfolded.
