About the Role

Essential Responsibilities:
• Administer medications accurately and record their administration, monitoring for effectiveness and any adverse effects, in accordance with policies, procedures, and current care standards.
• Observe, record, and report patient symptoms, conditions, and changes to the Nurse.
• Ensure medications are stored safely and in compliance with state/federal regulations and facility policies.
• Monitor medication inventory, ensuring proper verification, ordering, and receiving of medications, with documentation in the patient’s electronic health record (eMAR).
• Transcribe verified and prescribed medications accurately into patients’ medication administration records (eMAR).
• Inspect, clean, and monitor equipment and supplies regularly, reporting any issues to the Nurse.
• Obtain, record, and report vital signs.
• Demonstrate proper infection control practices by following Universal Precautions and established policies and procedures.
• Communicate clearly and accurately with patients, staff, and others, and seek clarification or refer questions to the Nurse when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse or supervisor within the scope of your role.

Requirements

  • Valid certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or Advanced Medication Aide in the state of operation.

Under the supervision of a Nurse, the Certified Medication Aide will administer medications as prescribed by the provider, document the administration, and observe patient responses. This role is critical in ensuring that medications are handled safely and accurately, while maintaining compliance with policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations.
